I started this project in 2022 as part of my studies at ECAL (Lausanne University of Art and Design). The idea came to me during a freelance design project I was working on alongside my thesis, which focused on the relationship between the body and objects. Very quickly, my interest turned to gynecology and its various issues. I then realized that nudity played an important role in this field, often causing embarrassment and vulnerability.
As I delved deeper into my research, I found that no clothing had been specifically designed for gynecology. So I decided to create some.
I then chose to continue this work and make it my bachelor's degree project. After graduating, I continued to develop it independently. I have now been working on this project for over three years, with the aim of offering a solution that is adapted, respectful, and designed specifically for gynecology patients.
After years of development, GYNECARE+ is ready to launch in 2026 in selected medical offices, hospitals, private medical centers, partner healthcare facilities.
All gynecological appointments are conducted differently. However, the exam usually begins with a discussion about the patient's general health: menstrual cycle, contraception, medical history, etc. This discussion will help guide the consultation.
Medical exams then constitute the main part of the appointment. They may involve several areas of the body. The upper part, including a breast exam, and the lower part, which includes various internal and external tests (pap smear, palpation, etc.). Other exams may also focus on other parts of the body, such as observing cysts, pimples, or skin lesions.
During these exams, the patient is often asked to change clothes or partially undress. GYNECARE+ garments has been designed with several goals in mind: to reduce changing time, limit exposure of the body to what is strictly necessary, and ensure coverage of parts of the body that are not being examined.
GYNECARE+ thus reduces discomfort and stress and promotes a more respectful and peaceful healthcare experience for both the patient and the professional.
